1:1 ‘Natural Flower Arranging’ Workshops, Norfolk

My natural flower arranging workshop is the perfect workshop if you are tired of plastic-looking flowers with barely any scent arranged in foam or wired into submission. All flowers used will have been harvested from my cutting garden, the hedgerow or my allotment and will reflect the time of year.

The workshops are on a one-to-one basis, although feel free to bring someone else along! (max. 3 people per workshop) so that the course can be tailored to your individual requirements. We'll look at different types of display:  natural-looking vases, low-level table displays and a simple hand-held posy before choosing one of them to create and take home. No previous flower arranging experience is required.

Workshop Outline

We'll begin with picking fresh flowers and foliage from the garden, learning about the best methods of harvesting and conditioning the flowers so that they last as long as possible in the vase. We'll use seasonal flowers but also learn about the kinds of flowers and foliage you could be using year-round.

We'll discuss the elements of design including colour, balance and structure and look at choosing the right vase or container. I'll demonstrate different types of arrangement and then you will be able to make your own creation to take home with you. You are welcome to bring a favourite vase or vessel with you or I provide jam jars for arranging in and taking home.
